Tottenham want to sign Aston Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey

Tottenham Hotspur had been subject to extensive links to bring Aston Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey to White Hart Lane as Ange Postecoglou looks to compound his options in the middle of the park. However, despite aggressive rumours linking Ramsey to a Spurs transfer, nothing materialised, and he continued at Villa Park.

Daniel Levy’s last reported offer stood was a player-plus-cash deal with Gio Lo Celso going the other way.

While it was not accepted, the North Londoners are looking to grind back into the negotiations in a pursuit to bring him to Hotspur Way. Although it would be a bit of a of a complication this time around as fellow Premier League rivals Arsenal and Newcastle United have also expressed interest in signing the 23-year-old. Despite links to other English top-tier sides, ex-Spurs scout Bryan King believes that the Lilywhites need to keep targeting players such as Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey. He insists how Jacob’s profile can help Ange Postecoglou’s side level up in terms of creativity and dynamism in midfield.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, King said:

“We’re talking about a top-level player here. Who else are Spurs looking at? Who else could be available? It needs to be this standard of player, this quality of player. They can’t be messing around in the Championship. If they want to be big then they have got to look big.”

“This is a talented player who can continue to develop under Postecoglou. Arsenal and Newcastle are mentioned, if Ramsey is to be sold, his agent will want a bidding war.”

There has been a need for a Ramsey-type midfielder since Ange Postecoglou took charge of the reigns at N17, and on a fair part, he did try to bring in quite a few players, but none of the transfers worked out. And now the introduction of Arsenal makes it complicated for Spurs, as, from a sporting point of view, the Gunners would offer a far more compelling and appealing project for Ramsey.

For Tottenham, they will need to prioritise and act fast if they are to land Ramsey as competition intensifies going into the 2025 transfer windows.
