Tottenham monitoring the progress of Atalanta star Charles De Ketelaere
Tottenham Hotspur’s recruitment over the last few transfer windows has been solid if not spectacular, targeting young, hungry and dynamic talents with high ceiling.
Destiny Udogie, Micky van de Ven, James Maddison, Lucas Bergvall, Archie Gray and Brennan Johnson are just a few examples of astute dealings in the transfer market in recent memory. And they appear to have started working behind the scenes to continue improving their squad under Ange Postecoglou, though, major dealings are expected to happen next summer.
According to an exclusive report from CaughtOffside, Tottenham are among several top clubs watching Atalanta playmaker Charles De Ketelaere.
Atalanta are one of the shrewdest operators in the transfer market and they further proved it with the signing of Charles De Ketelaere. Having failed to live up to the lofty expectations at AC Milan following his move from Club Brugge in 2022, Atalanta initially signed the Belgian on loan last summer.

It turned out to be one of their best signings as the 23-year-old played a pivotal role in the club’s Europa League triumph in May. De Ketelaere had a fantastic loan spell in Bergamo, netting 14 goals and recording 11 assists in 50 games across all competitions last season. This resulted in the Serie A side signing him permanently from AC Milan.
While the Bruges-born talent has not started the 2024/25 campaign in the same vein of form as the last term, his overall contribution keeps his status as one of Gian Piero Gasperini’s crucial cogs.
Tottenham aren’t the only Premier League club interested in De Ketelaere. Arsenal, Manchester City, Newcastle United and West Ham United have all been keeping a close watch on his performances in Italy, the aforementioned report adds.
The Belgium international’s importance to Atalanta is likely to rule out a January transfer, although next summer, the defending Europa League champions could make a massive profit on the versatile playmaker. The 23-year-old’s performances and overall impact on Gasperini’s side has put a number of clubs on red alert.
So evidently, if the Lilywhites are to land De Ketelaere’s signature, they will have to fend off fierce competition for the highly-rated talent. Should Spurs manage to lure De Ketelaere to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in 2025, he will be likely competing against Maddison for a spot in Ange Postecoglou’s first XI.
