Genoa star Morten Frendrup has been scouted by Tottenham officials
Tottenham Hotspur have shown their ambition away from the pitch in the past transfer window with Ange Postecoglou’s squad bolstered over the summer.
Ange Postecoglou has now had three transfer windows to oversee the start of his project at White Hart Lane. Spurs narrowly missed out on a spot in the Champions League to Aston Villa last season, so the club had to spend money to give Big Ange’s squad every chance of getting into the elite European competition in 2025.
Spurs’ change in transfer policy of late to sign high-potential young players that can make an impact at White Hart Lane in the long term saw them bring in the likes of Wilson Odobert, Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall in the summer. And they are looking to do the same in the next transfer windows as the club’s top brass aim to create a squad of rich talents who can grow under Big Ange’s guidance and help the Lilywhites win trophies in the future.
According to an exclusive report from GIVEMESPORT, Tottenham are one of the few Premier League clubs monitoring the progress of Genoa midfielder Morten Frendrup.

Morten Frendrup arrived at Genoa from Brondby in January 2022, and after taking some time to adapt to the rigours of Serie A football, he became a regular in the side. He completed his first full campaign in Serie A last term, playing a key role in the middle of the park to help Alberto Gilardino’s side finish 14 points clear of the relegation zone.
The 23-year-old, who is also adept at operating at right-back, was handed a new contract in February by the club following his impressive displays. The versatile Dane signed an extension with Genoa until June 2028 (Transfermarkt). Frendrup had a strong 2023/24 season in Serie A where he scored twice and supplied five assists in 37 appearances. With Pedro Porro being linked with a move to Real Madrid, it remains to be seen if a move for Frendrup will be part of a chain reaction given Fre.
The defensive midfielder’s strong form this season earned him his first call-up to the Denmark national team last month. He made his debut in Denmark’s 2-0 win over Serbia in the Nations League in September.
There are chances of Frendrup leaving Genoa next year which has put several clubs across Europe and the Premier League on red alert. The aforementioned report adds Tottenham feel they are short in the defensive midfield area and may look to address the glaring hole by signing the Tuse-born talent during the winter transfer window.

Hardworking, tough-tackling, tenacious and a good reader of the game, Frendrup, who has earned comparisons to French World Cup winner N’Golo Kante, would be a good fit in Big Ange’s high-pressing, proactive and aggressive style of football at Spurs. The Dane’s qualities on and off the ball would complement the likes of James Maddison and Rodrigo Bentancur in the engine room.
That said, if the Lilywhites are truly interested in recruiting the Genoa star in 2025, they must start laying the groundwork from now onward.
