Tottenham insider blasts ‘silly’ Tottenham stars for unjust West Ham theatrics

Podcast host ear-marks Tottenham talent Dorrington for much needed loan spell.

Tottenham Hotspur enjoyed a thumping 4-1 win over West Ham at White Hart Lane on Saturday; it was a perfect day for the Lilywhites as they got back from going behind to clinch all three points.

Ange Postecoglou’s side were on a roll, particularly in the second half, when the hosts netted three in the space of seven minutes to put the game to bed and take away any outside chance for the Hammers to win the game.

King criticises Van de Ven to make a meal for Kudus red card

The visitors ended the fixture with ten men as goal scorer Mohamed Kudus was shown the red carpet for taking a strike at Micky van de Ven and Pape Sarr’s faces. Andy, while many wouldn’t argue about that red card, former Spurs scout Bryan King insists that the Ghanaian shouldn’t have been sent off, as he thinks those were flat hands and more of a push than a slap.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, King said:

“Flat hands in people’s faces were causing players to go down. It was more of a push than a punch. I don’t think anything during that incident warranted a sending-off. However, once the referee went over to the screen, you sensed a red card would be produced.

“The whole thing was just an overplayed, silly situation. It was ridiculous, and after that kind of contact caused Van de Ven to go down, I was very disappointed with him.”

While it might have been a push over a slap and the Spurs player may have gone down holding their faces easily, it is not acceptable to swing your arms around players’s faces. Even if Van de Ven has made a meal out of it.

And while Bryan King’s words point towards a certain level of leniency, the rules in place are clear about protecting players from violent conduct, whether it’s a push or a slap.

Ultimately, that red card took away any hopes that West Ham had to take something out of the game, and the North Londoners came away with the three points.
