Dejan Kulusevski has undoubtedly been Tottenham’s best player this season
Dominic Solanke may not be banging goals yet for Tottenham Hotspur but Ange Postecoglou will be happy with the improvements his record-signing has been making since recovering from an ankle injury.
Despite not scoring on Saturday, the England international was still instrumental in Spurs’ 4-1 win over London rivals West Ham United at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Premier League. Solanke played a crucial role in Dejan Kulusevski’s equalising goal for the home side.
Speaking about Dejan Kulusevski, the 24-year-old has been Spurs’ best player so far this season. He is thriving in a new central midfield role in Ange Postecoglou’s preferred 4-3-3 system, contributing both defensively and going forward in equal measure. The Sweden international’s transformation as an attacking No.8 has taken many by surprise in the Premier League.

Solanke has expressed how impressed he has been with the performances of Dejan Kulusevski since arriving at the club, stating him as ‘phenomenal’.
“He [Kulusevski] is a great player. This season he has been phenomenal for us and we need players to be on top form, especially in the Premier League because we want to do as well as we can,” Solanke said in an interview with The Independent.
Kulusevski’s influence has been growing on the Tottenham side since the start of the 2024/25 campaign. The Stockholm-born star not only equalised for Big Ange’s team against West Ham but was also instrumental in dictating the flow of the game from the middle of the park, thereby, displaying his work ethic and energy.
Primarily a right-winger, the 24-year-old is relishing the new No.8 role under Big Ange. Him moving into midfield opened up a spot on the right flank which Brennan Johnson has seemingly cemented for himself with a series of strong performances of late. So, Big Ange’s slight tactical switch has hugely benefited both Kulusevski and Johnson.

Blessed with power, energy, creativity, flair and turn of pace, Kulusevski still has a couple of gears more in his engine to unlock and that may well happen with more consistency. The Swede’s stock is on the rise at the moment, and the fans as well as our boss will hope he keeps producing the goods and helps the Lilywhites get victories under their belt.
