Son Heung-min will miss Tottenham’s game against AZ Alkmaar, confirms Ange Postecoglou
As Tottenham Hotspur look to host AZ Alkmaar at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Europa League, they also crave for speedy recovery of their injured players.
Ahead of the Europa League clash, Spurs have been boosted by the positive injury update on Wilson Odobert. The French winger, who joined from Burnley in the summer, was forced off in the first half of their dramatic late 2-1 Carabao Cup victory over Coventry last month with a hamstring injury.
Odobert has made good progress over recent weeks and was spotted training with his teammates at the Hotspur Way on Wednesday morning. There is a good chance the young winger will be on the bench against the Eredivisie side.

On the contrary, one Tottenham star will miss out on the European clash. Son Heung-min will not be involved in Thursday’s game, with Ange Postecoglou confirming his skipper was ‘sore’ at the weekend.
“Sonny was a bit sore after the weekend, he was never going to be involved tomorrow,” Postecoglou said in his pre-match press conference (h/t Football London).
Son Heung-min only just returned from injury against West Ham United last weekend, a game in which he thrived and scored. He got back on the scoresheet in the London derby, netting his team’s fourth to complete the rout.
It was the perfect return for the 32-year-old, who missed three games after picking up a hamstring injury against Qarabag in Spurs’ opening Europa League game. He was unavailable for matches against Manchester United, Ferencvaros and Brighton. Spurs won the game against Man United and Ferencvaros but stumbled at Brighton before the international break.
While the news of Odobert’s return will come as a welcome boost for Spurs and our fans, the absence of Son is a setback. Big Ange may have downplayed fears over a big injury, yet him missing out on Thursday’s game after just recovering from a hamstring problem should come as a blow.

Meanwhile, the north Londoners have made a perfect start to their Europa League campaign, winning the first two games whilst scoring five and conceding only one in the process. Big Ange’s men will be now hoping to make it three wins from three in Europe when they host AZ.
