James Maddison likens Tottenham starlet to Neymar

Dean Ashton claims Tottenham Hotspur skipper Son Heung-min appeared disinterested against Arsenal.

Tottenham Hotspur enjoyed another splendid performance at White Hart Lane yesterday night as the Lilywhites came through with a 1-0 score line against AZ Alkmaar yesterday night, with a Richarlison penalty separating both sides as Ange Postecoglou’s side continues a perfect European record.

And while Richy grabbed a much-needed goal, it was academy graduate Mikey Moore that got the supporters on the edge of their seats yesterday as he enjoyed a memorable night aggregating three crosses in the box complemented by three attempted dribbles and six touches in the AZ box as he created one chance and three shots.

He got off to a standing ovation from the Lilywhites faithful when Ange Postecoglou replaced him in the 88th, and Spurs midfielder James Maddison has been raving about the youngster’s performance in his post-game interview, likening the teenager to Barcelona icon Neymar.

Moore looked really dangerous every time he got the ball; his intent to take on his man and try to make something happen showed the confidence he has in his abilities, and you could hear every Tottenham fan in Maddison’s words.

Speaking in his post game interview with TNT Sports (via BBC Sport), the former Leicester City midfielder said:

“I thought we had Neymar on the left wing! He is fearless, [he has] that young, fearless mentality. He’s a brilliant lad, he has bags of ability. I will hopefully help him with wise words but he has all the ability and well done to him.”

There is still a lot to come from Moore, and the supporters should be patient with him as he takes strides in senior football. For Tottenham, it is necessary to keep him away from the limelight and on the ground as he grinds out taking levels in his game, but that being said, it is surely going to be difficult if he puts in performances like he did yesterday.
