Podcast owner John Wenham hails Mikey Moore as ‘fearless talent’ after dazzling display vs AZ Alkmaar

Tottenham young talent Mikey Moore put in a dazzling show vs AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League

Tottenham Hotspur couldn’t have made a better start to their Europa League campaign. By beating AZ Alkmaar 1-0 at home, they made it three wins out of three and are now in a fantastic position to advance to the knockout rounds.

Mikey Moore, Spurs’ brightest young star made quite a name for himself in the win over AZ Alkmaar on Thursday evening. Handed only his second start for Tottenham for the third Europa League game, the teenager was utilised on the right flank in the first half and he struggled to make the desired impact. After the break, he switched flanks and became extremely potent, taking the game to the opposition.

The AZ Alkmaar players were doubling up on the youngster but Mikey Moore was unstoppable as he danced past defenders with ease and poise, linked up play well in the final third and put in some dangerous balls in the box. Our academy kid was on the pitch for 88 minutes, dazzling with his performance and exciting the fans while sending a message to Ange Postecoglou that he can handle men’s football.

John Wenham, the owner of the famous Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose, heaped praise on Mikey Moore for his performance in the continental clash in midweek. He claims the teenage prodigy’s progress and development is exhilarating to watch.

“It was a fearless, confident performance from Moore,” John Wenham exclusively told Tottenham News.

“That display will light his name up to those who might have just heard the odd thing or two about him.

“It was a dominant, exciting display. He was demanding the ball and running at people, doing all the things he does in academy games, but at senior level.

“Therefore, that was exciting to see.”

It seemed everything fell into place for Moore after the break, with the teenager creating all kinds of chaos within the Alkmaar defence and producing several good openings in the final third. In truth, the Eredivisie outfit could not handle the trickery, dynamism and flair of the Spurs starlet.

It was the kind of display that sent a clear message about Moore’s readiness to play at the highest level and his ability to handle the pressure that comes with playing for a big club like Tottenham. The tricky winger certainly proved he is worthy of first-team minutes in this European competition, however, he is only 17 and Big Ange knows he has to be careful about managing him.
