Tottenham skipper Son Heung-min ruled out of Crystal Palace clash
Tottenham Hotspur have had their fair share of injury concerns in the 2024/25 season, with the likes of Richarlison, Dominic Solanke, Son Heung-min and Wilson Odobert among some players spending time on the sidelines.
Ahead of the London derby against Crystal Palace on Sunday, the Lilywhites have been handed a big blow with skipper Son Heung-min unlikely to feature.
The South Korean international only just returned from injury against West Ham United last weekend, a game in which he performed very well and scored. He got back on the scoresheet in the London derby, helping his team beat the Hammers 4-1.

Son Heung-min missed the 1-0 victory over AZ Alkmaar on Thursday with “muscle soreness” as Ange Postecoglou had stated in midweek. Most supporters would have been hopeful that this was only a precautionary measure and that our captain would return for the weekend’s Premier League game. However, the Spurs boss has revealed that the 32-year-old is likely to miss out on the trip to Crystal Palace.
“Sonny’s still not right, still not feeling 100 per cent. He won’t train today, so he’s unlikely for this weekend and we’ll see after that,” Ange Postecoglou was quoted from the club’s official website.
This will come as a big concern to Spurs fans, with games coming thick and fast. After the Palace game, Spurs will lock horns with Manchester City in the Carabao Cup on October 30 before hosting Aston Villa in the Premier League on November 3. These are two big games, and Tottenham will need Son back fully fit for those.
Of course, Son missing out again is a big shame but certainly the correct thing to do if he is not 100 per cent fit. Risking him could only aggravate the issue and put the forward on the treatment table for a long time. Without the South Asian superstar in the squad, it will be interesting who starts on the left wing at Selhurst Park.
There is a possibility of Richarlison starting on the left as it is a position he played on a number of occasions for Watford and Everton, and even at times for Big Ange’s side last season. The Brazilian will be confident after scoring the penalty against AZ Alkmaar, chomping at the bits to start on Sunday.

Even without Son, Tottenham have enough quality in their ranks to beat a Palace side struggling with confidence and form.
