Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo has emerged as a target for Tottenham
Tottenham Hotspur have been harbouring hopes to become a top club in recent years. Five years ago, they reached the Champions League final, but since then, the Lilywhites haven’t quite managed to sustain the quality to challenge elite teams for major honours.
Things seem to be falling in place since last year when Ange Postecoglou arrived at the Hotspur Way. The club’s strategy and recruitment model have changed, with the emphasis now being put on bringing in young talents with high rather than signing finished articles.
Bournemouth ace Antoine Semenyo has emerged as a potential target for Tottenham as they look to add quality and depth to the attacking unit. The tricky winger is also a target for other big clubs, as he might depart Vitality Stadium sooner rather than later.
Since his move to Bournemouth from Bristol City in January 2023, Antoine Semenyo has scored 12 goals and provided three assists in 56 games, including three goals and an assist in eight games so far this season. With his pace, trickery, energy, flair and directness, the Ghana international has established himself as a key component in attack for Andoni Iraola’s side.
With Tottenham among several clubs showing an interest in the 24-year-old, former scout Mick Brown insists that the Cherries could hand him a new contract despite having recently tied him down to a new five-year deal until 2029 (Transfermarkt). He has also revealed that much of the rumours surrounding the winger’s future at the south coast club have been drummed up by his agent.
“I’m told a lot of this talk is agent-led,” Mick Brown exclusively told Football Insider.
“They’re putting out the word on their client to drum up interest in his signature.
“That could land him a new deal at Bournemouth, because it’s a two-way thing.
“I know the club think highly of him and don’t want to see him leave so they could discuss a new contract to put off interest.
“But the agent will be saying that if they don’t offer a contract, there’s now interest from other clubs, so it’s a win-win situation for them.
“That’s how agents work these days, they’re always looking to make things happen.”
The Cherries might have recently signed Semenyo to a new long-term deal, but it will be extremely difficult for them to stop his move to a bigger club. They are set to demand £40-50million for the in-form Ghanaian, whose head could be turned following interest from Spurs. And they plan to make it difficult for Spurs and other clubs to negotiate by handing him another contract.

Having developed well and gained solid Premier League experience at Bournemouth, Semenyo may think the time will be right next year to join a bigger club and fulfil his ambitions of playing in the Champions League. All in all, Daniel Levy must push for the speedy African’s signature when the transfer window reopens in January, as the winger is flattered by our club’s interest.
With Son Heung-min well into his 30s, Richarlison injury prone and Timo Werner not good enough to play in the Premier League, Semenyo would be a smart choice to improve Big Ange’s attacking unit.
