Cascarino hails Tottenham ace as Premier League’s second-best player in key role

Manchester City join Real Madrid in the race for £85k-per-week Tottenham star Pedro Porro.

Tottenham Hotspur defender Pedro Porro has taken massive strides in his game since he moved to North London, and his performances off late have seen the Spaniard establish himself as one of the best full backs in the Premier League and Europe. He is someone who has not only potential on the attacking side of the game but is also a robust defender who grinds out his time on the pitch.

Porro is one of the key cogs in Ange Postecoglou‘s side, as he brings a technical presence with tactical ability, which helps the Lilywhites get an upper hand in the game.

The 25-year-old is getting his deserved credit as former Chelsea striker Tony Cascarino insists that the Lilywhites ace is only just behind the flair of Liverpool’s right back Trent Alexander-Arnold in the English top flight.

Speaking on The Game Football Podcast, the Pundit said:

“Porro is so good on the ball; I mentioned it; Trent is probably number one, but he isn’t far behind; Porro, honestly, technically, watching him, it’s like, ‘Wow, how much skill has he got?’. In dangerous situations, it might come with a price to pay.”

Links follow his reputation

His credentials have seen some of Europe’s most elite follow his signatures, as the Spanish international has now been subject to links with both Real Madrid (h/t The Athletic) and Manchester City (h/t Football Insider) over the past few weeks.

And while he does have a long time left on his contract at White Hart Lane, Spurs will soon have to compound on new negotiations if they are to keep hold of the player on a long term, as his growing reputation could make him a target for bigger clubs looking to bolster their squads (as we have seen).
