Tottenham head coach drops latest injury update on Son Heung-min
Tottenham Hotspur’s long-standing struggles for consistency came to the fore once again as they suffered a shock loss to Crystal Palace. Jean-Philippe Mateta netted the sole goal in the 31st minute of the match, taking advantage of Spurs’ weaknesses at the back.
Ange Postecoglou decided to hand Mikey Moore his first Premier League start on Sunday afternoon, with the academy kid replacing the injured Son Heung-min from Spurs’ last league game against West Ham United.

Son Heung-min had made a goalscoring return to Ange Postecoglou’s starting lineup in last weekend’s 4-1 smashing of West Ham, having missed three matches across all competitions with an injury that forced him off late in the Europa League opener against Qarabag in September.
The Tottenham skipper experienced soreness after the West Ham game and was not risked in the Europa League win over AZ Alkmaar last Thursday. He then missed out on the 1-0 defeat to Palace on Sunday, having not trained with his teammates. Speaking ahead of the Palace game, Postecoglou had hinted that Son should be alright for next week.
“It’s not really a hamstring injury, but he was out for a while and wasn’t feeling right after the last game, so we’re just being conservative with him,” explained the 59-year-old. “All things being well, he should be alright for next week,” Postecoglou was quoted by Football London.
It is a relief to hear from our gaffer that Son has not suffered a hamstring problem as it could keep a player on the sidelines for weeks, or in the worst-case scenario for months. After the setback at Palace, Tottenham could certainly do with a boost heading into Wednesday’s big clash against Manchester City in the Carabao Cup fourth round.
While having Son back for the Man City game appears touch and go, the most realistic date for his return appears to be on Sunday afternoon against Aston Villa. However, the Lilywhites have to tackle City before potentially without the services of the South Korean.

After a drab display at Selhurst Park, Big Ange will expect his team to raise their performance levels and knock City out of the Carabao Cup. The Greek-Australian tactician stated last month that he always wins a trophy in his second season at a club and Spurs fans will hope he can do just that, thereby, ending their long trophy drought.
