Big blow for Tottenham as Palace will not consider January sale for transfer target

Fabrizio Romano issues update on Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in Eberechi Eze.

Crystal Palace will not allow Eberechi Eze to leave in January amid Tottenham interest

Tottenham Hotspur are seriously scouring the market for a fresh left-wide forward in a bid to potentially replace Timo Werner, who re-signed for the club on loan from RB Leipzig in May.

Werner has been a huge disappointment since re-joining Spurs, bagging only one assist in 11 games across all competitions so far this season. Due to his consistently poor displays, the German forward looks unlikely to have a long-term future at N17. Thus, the north Londoners will not spend £8.5million to sign the forward permanently from RB Leipzig next year.

Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze has been among the names that Tottenham are potentially vying for in a bid to bring the creative attacker to White Hart Lane. However, Spurs and other interested clubs have suffered a potential setback in their acquisition of the England international.

According to an exclusive report from GIVEMESPORT, Crystal Palace will not allow Eberechi Eze to leave the club during the January transfer window. The key decision-makers at Selhurst Park are expected to remain hellbent on their demands over the 26-year-old.

Eze had gone into the summer transfer window as one of the hottest commodities in the Premier League. Fleet-footed and easy on the eye, the Greenwich-born ace made the Eagles in the second half of last season with his vision, pace, unpredictability and flair.

Palace are now in a commanding position after Eze’s £60million release clause expired in August, meaning Spurs or any other interested party will need to fork out a premium to sign him next year. The summer departures of Michael Olise and Joachim Andersen have led to Palace equalling their worst start to a Premier League season and they don’t want to make things difficult by selling Eze in January.

The aforementioned report adds suitors like Tottenham will have the chance to take advantage of a £68million release clause inserted in the 26-year-old’s contract at the end of the campaign. Apart from Spurs, the likes of Manchester City, Newcastle United and Arsenal are all interested in the English wide playmaker, who will only be allowed to leave the south London club if a £60million offer is tabled.

Eberechi Eze is open to joining Tottenham Hotspur in 2025.
Eberechi Eze has been a star performer for Crystal Palace in the last two seasons.

Given Palace’s current predicament, Eze could be ready to test himself at a bigger club having given his all for the South London outfit. He is a sublime talent and deserves to play at the highest level. A player of the ex-QPR man’s quality would thrive and unlock his massive potential in a free-flowing, aggressive and pressing system at Spurs.

As the Eagles appear very unlikely to sanction Eze’s sale midway through the campaign, Spurs must wait and continue monitoring his progress before testing their resolve in the summer.
