Tottenham, currently 8th in the Premier League, are gearing up for a home clash against Unai Emery’s Aston Villa. While many Spurs players have had inconsistent seasons, one standout has shown remarkable growth. Speaking to football.london ahead of Wednesday’s match, Ange Postecoglou praised this player, expressing confidence that his best performances are yet to come.
The player in focus is Dejan Kulusevski, who has emerged as one of Tottenham’s most consistent and in-form players this season. Speaking to football.london, Postecoglou highlighted the Sweden international’s growth, specifically in his leadership qualities, when asked about his development.
Earning £110,000 per week, Kulusevski has made 109 appearances for the Lilywhites, contributing 38 goals since his transfer from Juventus in 2023.
‘More to come’ from Tottenham star Dejan Kulusevski
Postecoglou highlighted Kulusevski’s growth, noting that many players in the squad are developing through their experiences. After facing an early injury in a recent match, Kulusevski struggled with his composure, which serves as another learning opportunity for him. The manager emphasised the importance of focusing on team contributions rather than personal frustrations. He acknowledged Kulusevski’s fantastic performance this year, both in terms of his output and his mentality, while expressing optimism for further growth in the future.
“I think for Deki at the weekend was another growth period because he got hurt pretty early and wasn’t happy with it. In many respects, he lost a bit of his composure after that and that’s another growth for him.
“To understand it is part of it and focus your energy on helping the team on the day rather than being personally aggrieved, but that’s where we are as a group and that’s where we get our growth.
“By going through experiences like we did at the weekend with a lot of the players and them going through that and understanding how to deal with it better next time.
