Tottenham Hotspur is building an exciting roster of young talent, demonstrating a clear focus on future prospects. Under Ange Postecoglou, several youngsters are making their mark in the starting XI, including Mikey Moore, who recently earned his first Premier League start. Meanwhile, some of Tottenham’s promising players have been sent out on loan to gain valuable first-team experience. One loanee, in particular, has caught the attention of his manager, who is optimistic about his potential for a bright future.

Stoke City exited the Carabao Cup with a 3-2 defeat against Southampton on Tuesday night, but Tottenham’s Ashley Phillips showcased his talent with a stunning goal. After the match, Stoke manager Narcis Pelach speaking to StokeOnTrentLive  acknowledged Phillips’s potential for a bright future, emphasising that continued development could lead to significant opportunities for the young player.

The Tottenham loanee keeps impressing

Ashley Phillips, the traditional centre-back who joined Stoke City on loan in August this year, has made five appearances to date, earning £15,000 per week. His ability to score a goal, as he demonstrated on Tuesday night, highlights the talent this young defender possesses. However, transitioning to the Premier League with Tottenham presents a significantly greater challenge than anything Phillips has encountered thus far in his career.

Speaking to StokeOnTrentLive after the game, Stoke manager Narcis Pelach admitted Phillips could be in for a big future if he continues to develop.

“He had chances against Sheffield United the other day. I’m impressed with his performance today and the other day and he needs to continue in this direction because I think he’s a good centre-back, can be very good in the future,”

Ange Postecoglou remains committed to the defensive partnership of Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven, even as Tottenham’s defensive record raises concerns. While Dragusin’s agent has downplayed exit speculation ahead of January, the role of third centre-back in north London may open up over the summer. Given his impressive performances, Ashley Phillips is trending positively, and Stoke’s manager anticipates a bright future for the young England youth player.
