PL rivals ready to outbid Real Madrid for Tottenham star

Michael Bridges says Pedro Porro has been the 'standout performer' for Tottenham this term.

Tottenham star Pedro Porro has attracted interest from Manchester City and Real Madrid

Pedro Porro has taken his game to another level under the management of Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham Hotspur since last year.

His consistent performances have seen the Spanish international establish himself as one of the best full-backs in the Premier League. The 25-year-old is someone who isn’t just good going forward but also reliable when it comes to defending transitions especially due to Spurs’ high defensive line.

However, the performances of Pedro Porro in a Tottenham kit hasn’t gone unnoticed. Manchester City and Real Madrid are considering making a move for the Spurs right-back in 2025. Both European bigwigs are in the market for a new right-back owing to injuries to their respective stars.

Kyle Walker’s knee injury has forced Man City to scour the market for a long-term replacement, while Real Madrid want to bring in a new right-back owing to Dani Carvajal’s ACL injury. Spurs are perhaps wary of their interest in Porro, who remains tied to White Hart Lane until the summer of 2028 (Transfermarkt).

According to an exclusive report from GIVEMESPORT, Man City could be compelled to pay a lot more than Real Madrid in a bid to persuade Spurs into selling Porro in the summer. Tottenham are not keen to sell their star full-back to a direct Premier League rival and are poised to raise their asking price should City come calling.

The Lilywhites are eager to keep hold of the Don Benito-born rampaging right-back after he has become a key cog in Big Ange’s machine. For now, they have slapped a mammoth £80million price tag on the Spaniard as Daniel Levy and his bosses attempt to scare off potential suitors.

If City up their ante and want Porro, they have to splash in the north of the aforementioned £80million asking price. This will be a huge setback for the Sky Blues, having not trusted Porro between 2019 and 2022 when he was on their payroll. The English champions will likely have to spend a lot more than fellow admirers Real Madrid to tempt Spurs into selling Porro.

The aforementioned report adds the North London outfit are in a solid negotiating position and under no pressure to sanction the exit of Porro as he has four more years remaining on his current deal. If Spurs are to let the Spanish international leave, they would rather sell him abroad than strengthen a domestic rival like Pep Guardiola’s City.

Tottenham remain hopeful of keeping Porro at the Hotspur Way but they have not ruled out the possibility of cashing him in as there is cognizance that the defender’s value has skyrocketed since he arrived from Sporting CP in January 2023.

Fans will hope the club does their best to retain the Spaniard’s services for many years, although it will be difficult to keep him if City or Madrid make concrete moves.
