Key Tottenham star backed to make starting XI vs Aston Villa.

Tottenham skipper Son Heung-min could be available to face Aston Villa on Sunday

Looking to build momentum from the Carabao Cup win over Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur host Aston Villa in an intriguing Premier League clash on Sunday afternoon.

The Lilywhites come into this game desperate for three points on the board following their disappointing defeat to Crystal Palace last weekend. However, the north London side did manage to overcome Manchester City in their midweek Carabao Cup fourth-round tie, which could help boost their confidence heading into this one.

While Spurs were dealt an injury setback in the form of defender Micky van de Ven, they also received positive news on the injury front at the other end of the pitch. In his pre-match press conference, Ange Postecoglou confirmed that Son Heung-min has trained with his teammates and could return against Aston Villa.

“Sonny has trained today. If he trains tomorrow, he should be okay for the weekend.”

Now, John Wenham—the owner of the famous Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose claims Son Heung-min will start vs Aston Villa. He believes it will be a “phenomenal boost” for Tottenham to have their skipper back in time for the big game on Sunday.

“I imagine not only will Son feature, but he will start against Villa,” Wenham exclusively told Tottenham News.

“He’s had a few weeks off, and if he trained fully on Friday, then it looks like he will be back, which would be a phenomenal boost.

“Getting our best-attacking player, our world-class talisman back in the side is massive.”

Son has missed the Lilywhites’ last three games since experiencing soreness following the 4-1 win over West Ham United—in which he scored—having missed the previous three games as well. However, the 32-year-old has returned to training, and that is a massive boost for Ange Postecoglou’s side.

Big Ange will be delighted to have Son back in the squad vs Villa.

The South Korean international is undoubtedly Spurs’ biggest threat in attack due to his creativity, flair, burst of pace, and ability to score goals from both feet. He can create things out of nothing and works extremely hard off the ball, so Son is a valuable asset to the team.

However, we do feel Big Ange will likely introduce Son off the bench after he only returned to training on Friday. Our gaffer should not risk the forward from the onset, with Son having missed six of the last seven games with a thigh issue. He must ease the South Asian star back into the side, and having his pace and directness for the last 15-20 minutes against a tiring Villa defence would be a great weapon to have from the bench.

Instead, Big Ange should reward Timo Werner with a start after he scored his first goal of the season against Man City in the Carabao Cup in midweek.
