Tottenham vs Aston Villa - Preview, Prediction, Team News & More.

Tottenham host Aston Villa on matchday 10 of the Premier League

Just three days after defeating Manchester City in the Carabao Cup at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Ange Postecoglou’s men are back on home turf as they face another high flying team, this time in the Premier League. Aston Villa are the latest visitors to their ground in a fixture corresponding to matchday 10 of the English top fight on Sunday, November 3rd, at 14:00 local time.

At the moment, it’s Villa who sit in fourth place but Spurs have the opportunity to reduce the gap between themselves and Unai Emery’s charges. As such, it is Ange Postecoglou’s goal to nail down a Champions League berth next season and if a top four finish continues to elude the north Londoners, they may be under added pressure to win the Europa League.

Team News

Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur have no suspensions in their camp but three players are definitely going to miss the game owing to injuries. Djed Spence and Micky van de Ven are the latest on the treatment table as they join Wilson Odobert, who has not played a match for Spurs since over four weeks. Son Heung-min is expected to make a late recovery and be available to Postecoglou.

Spurs’ defence has looked leaky off late and will be further debilitated by Van de Ven’s injury. Offensively also the likes of Brennan Johnson and Dominic Solanke have lost their purple patch, and while Timo Werner bagged his first goal of the season against Manchester City, the German might be replaced by one of Son Heung-min or Richarlison in the starting eleven.

PREDICTED TOTTENHAM XI (4-3-3): Vicario; Porro, Romero, Dragusin, Udogie; Kulusevski, Bentancur, Maddison; Johnson, Solanke, Son

Aston Villa

Aston Villa have no injuries or suspensions for the match against Tottenham and will be motivated to overcome a 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace from the midweek Carabao Cup round as their journey in the competition came to an end. Meanwhile, they were also held to a draw by Bournemouth last weekend and consequent to that, they will be determined to turn things around against Tottenham.

To that note, all eyes will be on Ollie Watkins, who has scored five times in the Premier League this season while Jhon Duran has been a trump card off the bench as well. Emiliano Martinez won the Yashine Trophy earlier in the week and will be determined to show why he was the victor of the prestigious award as well.

PREDICTED ASTON VILLA XI (4-4-1-1): Martinez; Cash, Konsa, Torres, Digne; McGinn, Onana, Tielemans, Ramsey; Rogers; Watkins

Match-deciding duel

Dejan Kulusevski vs Youri Tielemans

Two of the Premier League’s best creative midfielders will go toe-to-toe on Sunday, and while both players are impeccable going forward, their defensive skills will also be put to the test. As a result, how they perform against one another on an individual level could go a long way in deciding the course of the game in either side’s favour.

That’s not to say that Spurs or Villa will have it easy elsewhere as both teams ooze some fantastic players.

Prediction

Tottenham 1-2 Aston Villa

Tottenham Hotspur have lost two of their last three matches in the Premier League and there may be some more bad news for them in the competition. Aston Villa have been the giant killers this season having beaten Bayern Munich in the Champions League and dominating Manchester United in a 0-0 draw some weeks ago.

More Tottenham Hotspur News:

Spurs might end up taking the lead in the first half itself but Villa’s progressive gameplay may prove to be too much for Ange Postecoglou’s men to deal with over the full 90.
