Tottenham Hotspur had a summer of sales as Daniel Levy ensured that he cleared up the surplus at White Hart Lane in a bid to make way for highly acclaimed players who can make a difference under Ange Postecoglou. While abundance of surplus was taken off of wage books at Hotspur Way, there are still a few question marks in the current roster, and we could see another lot of players cleared when the next summer window comes to fruition.
Former Lilywhites scout Bryan King insists that the North Londoners will sell one of the midfielders in the current squad as Spurs compound on links with a move for USMNT international Real Betis midfielder Johnny Cardoso. He insists that one of Pape Matar Sarr or Yves Bissouma will be shown the doors if Daniel Levy pursues a move for the 23-year-old.
The Lilywhites are missing depth in the middle of the park, while King insists that Ange Postecoglou doesn’t have a natural holding midfielder on his current roster.
Cardoso deal to trigger midfield exit? – Bissouma & Sarr possible options
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, King suggests how Spurs will have to make space for Cardoso. He said:
“Spurs need some bite in midfield. Looking at the team at the moment, I’m still trying to work out who the holding midfielder is. Everybody seems to want to get forward.
“If this player is going to bring a bit of quality and authority in midfield and he’s doing well in Spain, then Spurs might have done a good bit of business.
“Should he be brought in, I think either Bissouma or Sarr will be moved on, without any doubt.”
Cardoso has been subject to links with a move to Atletico Madrid per Estadio Deportivo; however, he is expected to join Tottenham, who, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano on X, have agreed a priority option with Spanish giants to land the 23-year-old midfielder as part of the deal that took Argentine maestro Giovani Lo Celso to Betis.
Bissouma was linked with a probable exit last summer, and he looks like a more possible transfer out in the 2025 transfer interval over Sarr, who is still developing into his potential.
