Tottenham insider expresses shock at youngster’s absence from squad

Jamie Donley of Tottenham is challenged by Killian Phillips of Crystal Palace during a Premier League 2 match.

Tottenham Hotspur have been blessed with a plethora of talents at Hotspur Way, and it is Daniel Levy’s job to ensure that all the stars in Hotspur Way’s books take strides in their development. The Lilywhites youngster Jamie Donley had been in limelight off late for his exciting start to the season during his loan spell at Leyton Orient.

However, things have taken a stingy road since the player was a missing figure in the Leyton Orient matchday squads, and John Wenham, owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose, expressed his amazement at Donley missing out on matchday squads after expressing how he is one of the best players in the EFL League One club’s ranks.

The 19-year-old has been missing from the last two matchday squads for Leyton Orient, and John Wenham, speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, cannot understand the whys behind it. He said:

“It is absolutely crazy what has happened to Donley. He was told when he went there that he would be a key player for them. Therefore, for him to now not be featuring at all just seems mad to me.

“They’re going into games with three centre-backs on the bench and the manager is then moaning about a lack of attacking options when Donley isn’t being picked. It beggars belief.

“Donley just has to be patient and wait for his chance. When he does get it, I’m sure he will take it because he’s an outstanding player, and probably one of the best players Leyton Orient have in their squad.”

Donley is taking impressive strides into senior football, and the fact that he is facing these sturdy roads early in his career will give him an opportunity to develop in different facets of being a professional football player. Wenham is right to urge patience at the moment.

That being said, if this were to continue, Ange Postecoglou and Daniel Levy will soon have to intervene and ensure that one of the brightest talents of the Spurs academy isn’t wasted away on the bench in the third tier of English football.
