Wilson Odobert has endured a tough start to life at Tottenham owing to injury problems
Tottenham Hotspur enjoyed a thrilling outing at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium at the weekend as they came from behind to secure a 4-1 win over Unai Emery’s Aston Villa.
Spurs next travel to Turkey to face Galatasaray SK in the Europa League and boss Ange Postecoglou will want his team to continue the winning momentum. A win over Galatasaray would mean a 100 per cent start for Postecoglou’s boys in the Europa League campaign.
However, injuries have started piling up for Tottenham in recent weeks. Summer signing Wilson Odobert has been one of the players who has been on the sidelines since last month.
The Frenchman, who arrived at White Hart Lane from Championship club Burnley, returned as a substitute against AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League after more than a month out with a hamstring problem. He has been out since Spurs’ 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace, with Big Ange confirming Wilson Odobert has suffered a serious injury setback.
John Wenham—the owner of the famous Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose—has expressed his frustration over Odobert’s injury setbacks that have impacted his early life at Tottenham. He wants to see the winger available until the end of the campaign once he recovers from his recent injury issue.
“I’m very frustrated about the Odobert injury situation,” Wenham exclusively told Tottenham News.
“We spent a fair bit on him in the summer and we haven’t seen much from him at all. It just seems at the moment like he is going to be a blocker for Mikey Moore’s pathway further down the line.
“I know these injuries aren’t his fault, but I’m disappointed with the entire situation. We’ve spent all this money on somebody who is constantly unavailable.
“We’ve seen how frustrating that can be with the likes of Giovani Lo Celso and Richarlison. Therefore, once Odobert is back, hopefully, he is available till the end of the season.”
Odobert was one of the rare bright spots in an otherwise torrid campaign for Burnley last season which ended in relegation to the Championship. The Meaux-born talent moved to N17 with high hopes but has had a nightmarish start to his time at Tottenham so far.
The France under-23 international put in a lot of effort to return to action against AZ Alkmaar, only to suffer another injury and get sidelined. The fans have hardly even seen Odobert in a Tottenham shirt; thus, it is obvious that everyone involved with the club is frustrated with his fitness. The player should also be equally frustrated as no one wants to spend time on the treatment table.

It remains to be seen how serious Odobert’s latest injury is and how long it will take for him to resume training with the squad.
