While Tottenham’s senior team appears to have found their stride under Ange Postecoglou, looking composed and confident, their Under-21s are struggling, currently sitting 24th in their league. Yet, Swindon Town boss Ian Holloway has praised the Spurs Under-21s, highlighting that their style of play carries clear influence from Postecoglou. There may be struggles in the standings, but there’s a glimmer of gold in the coal.

On Tuesday night, Spurs Under-21s faced Swindon Town in the EFL Trophy but were defeated 2-1, despite taking the lead in the first half. Tyrese Hall scored Tottenham’s only goal of the match, further solidifying his reputation as a promising future prospect for the first team.

Despite poor performances, the squad has impressed Iam Holloway

Holloway was direct about Spurs Under-21s’ performance, admitting that he had never seen such movement from any team before. While he acknowledged that the young Spurs side might not replicate the senior team’s style exactly, he firmly believes their approach on the pitch is undeniably influenced by Ange Postecoglou’s philosophy.

While speaking to Robin’s in-house media, The coach remarked,

“I thought it was an excellent game”
“First time I have ever seen movement like that from any side, let alone a Tottenham side.

“Obviously, that is coming from their manager, Ange Postecoglou.

“They did not do it quite like him because they had the right-footer on the left-hand side.”

The Australian has earned praise for his high-line, fluid style of play, and the club is working to instil this philosophy into their up-and-coming stars. It’s a fitting approach, as the younger players are often inspired by the style and success of their senior counterparts.
