Financial Masterstroke? Daniel Levy Stadium deal fuels Tottenham's Growth

Tottenham Hotspur academy graduate Alfie Dorrington has been backed to pursue a loan deal away from White Hart Lane in the upcoming winter transfer window.

Spurs have been blessed with multiple academy starlets off late, and it is Daniel Levy’s job to ensure that all of the youngsters take strides in the development along the campaign. We have already seen the club push for potential loan transfers for Academy players recently, and they made look to give Alfie Dorrington an experience of some valuable minutes under his belt once the January window comes around.

Dorrington has been struggling with injuries while he has seen some of his teammates go on, make an impact in the first team, or enjoy minutes and men’s football for their loan clubs. And John Wenham, owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose, believes that Tottenham would be looking to send the 19-year-old out on loan.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, Wenham said:

“Dorrington is flying under the radar because of these frustrating, continuous injury setbacks.

“However, he is a very good player and I think he could have a higher ceiling than Ashley Phillips. In January he has to be sent out on loan.

“I think our young players should get out and play first-team football. Dorrington has seen the majority of his strongest teammates from last season leave the club this year.

“As a result, it has been really difficult for him, especially with these injuries. Therefore, I think a good loan in January where he goes off and plays 20 games and demonstrates to everyone how good he is would be huge for his development.”

Dorrington has been highly regarded as a player. However, for the defender to succeed, he needs to play some consistent football, and that is not possible with the injury concerns he has been having. Hence, a loan makes perfect sense for the centre back. Getting a gist of men’s first team football is more developmental for the player than featuring along with his academy mates.
