Inter Milan defender Yann Bisseck attracting interest from Tottenham
Tottenham Hotspur star Cristian Romero has been linked with a move away from White Hart Lane, with Real Madrid expressing their interest in signing the defender in 2025.
The 2022 World Cup winner has been on the radar of Real Madrid since the past summer transfer window. Daniel Levy putting a mammoth price tag on the Argentinean’s head blocked a move to Santiago Bernabeu. However, Los Blancos continue to pursue a move for Cristian Romero and they could push for his signature when the transfer window reopens in January.
Therefore, the Lilywhites have started working behind the scenes for Romero’s replacement. According to a report from Italian outlet Inter Live, Tottenham have set their sights on Inter Milan defender Yann Bisseck ahead of a potential swoop.
Having arrived at Inter Milan from German side Aarhus in July 2023, Yann Bisseck took time to adapt to the demands of Italian football. Slowly he grew into an important squad player for the Nerazzurri and ended up making 21 appearances across all competitions.
The versatile defender has been a rock at the back this season, starting three out of four Champions League games including a superb performance in Inter’s 1-0 win over Arsenal at the San Siro last week. Bisseck is growing in stature under Simone Inzaghi and his performances have caught the attention of Spurs.
The aforementioned report adds Tottenham are willing to pay around €30 million for the former Germany youth international’s services. Inter CEO Beppe Marotta is currently juggling with two options—either to sell Bisseck on a hefty profit or extend his contract until 2029 with a salary increment. He is seemingly tilting towards the latter, even though the 23-year-old has a contract at Inter until 2028 (Transfermarkt).
Keeping that in mind, Spurs CEO Daniel Levy may have to splash a bit more than €30 million to persuade Inter into selling Bisseck in January should Real Madrid accelerate their interest in Romero. The European champions have been hit with a defensive crisis, with Eder Militao recently suffering a second ACL injury in two years. So, they appear desperate for defensive reinforcements and that possibly leads the La Liga giants to table a bid for Romero in the New Year.

Ange Postecoglou and Tottenham must do their best to keep hold of Romero as we cannot afford to lose a player of his quality, experience and leadership skills midway through the season. However, if Real Madrid show their financial might and the Argentinean’s head gets turned, we would have no option but to go all out for Bisseck as a replacement.
