Tottenham have been linked with Boca Juniors talent Kevin Zenon

Tottenham Hotspur are desperate to end their lengthy wait for silverware and that resulted in them forking out more than £120million on reinforcements.

Technical director Johan Lange and chairman Daniel Levy led the recruitment drive and signed as many as five players, with Dominic Solanke becoming the most expensive acquisition in the north London club’s history as he completed a £65million switch from Bournemouth. Players such as Wilson Odobert, Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall also arrived at White Hart Lane, thereby, bolstering Spurs’ pool of young talents.

However, there will be further opportunities to strengthen the club’s bid to get back in the Champions League as well as win a trophy at the turn of the year. And plans are supposedly put in place to back head coach Ange Postecoglou in the winter transfer window.

Tottenham have been linked with a possible move for Boca Juniors talent Kevin Zenon. The Argentinean under-23 international has been highly rated in South America and his impressive performances for Boca Juniors have left multiple sides vying for his signatures, with Spurs among the clubs looking to sign him.

Tottenham have been regarded as one of the clubs open to triggering Kevin Zenon’s £13 million release clause, and Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham has backed the move to sign the Boca Juniors starlet to provide competition to left-back Destiny Udogie. He wants the chiefs at the Hotspur Way to place their trust on the scouts and go for the player.

“I suppose it would be a gamble,” John Wenham exclusively told Tottenham News.

“However, this is where you need to rely on your scouts. You need to trust that they’ve gone out there and identified the player who is going to make a difference.

“If Zenón has been recommended, and he can play at left-back, then that transfer makes sense.

“We are in desperate need of somebody who can challenge Udogie.”

Transfer boost for Tottenham as European giants look at alternative options to Pedro Porro.
Should Ange Postecoglou go for Kevin Zenon?

Kevin Zenon can feature not only in the left-back role but also as a left-sided midfielder or left-winger, which makes him an ideal squad option for Spurs. Is he the right profile to challenge Udogie for a spot in Ange Postecoglou’s starting XI? We don’t feel so.

Udogie hasn’t been at his best this season and struggled defensively on multiple occasions. The young Italian desperately needs some competition to regain his mojo. However, if Ange Postecoglou, who likes his players to be multifunctional and essay different roles, feels Zenon is the right candidate to cover and compete with Udogie, then Levy must get his target in the New Year.
