Tottenham keeping tabs on RC Lens midfielder Andy Diouf
Tottenham Hotspurs’ start to the 2024/25 season has not exactly been the one which their fans would have been hoping with 11 games having now been played. They have recorded some scintillating performances and wins but also delivered some flat displays and defeats.
One of those nightmarish afternoons came on Sunday when Spurs were brought down to earth by newly promoted Ipswich Town, who won their first game of the Premier League season by beating Ange Postecoglou’s side 2-1 at White Hart Lane.
The Lilywhites have some work to do in the January transfer market if they are to bolster their hopes of getting top four this season. In the meantime, Postecoglou and Co. also need to negotiate through the taxing festive period to ensure at the very least that they don’t lag behind from the chasing pack too far.
With the January transfer window on the horizon, the Tottenham gaffer may well look to bolster his ranks. Now, according to an exclusive report from GIVEMESPORT, Spurs are monitoring the progress of RC Lens midfielder Andy Diouf. London rivals Crystal Palace and West Ham United also remain interested in the player.
Andy Diouf has enjoyed a promising start to the new campaign, scoring and assisting a goal apiece in 11 Ligue 1 games for RC Lens. The 21-year-old’s performances have caught the attention of many clubs including Tottenham, who had their scouts in attendance to watch him in action during Lens’ Europa Conference League clash with Greek side Panathinaikos in August.
The French side find themselves in a strong negotiating position thanks to Diouf being contracted at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis until 2028 (Transfermarkt). Scouts from several clubs are keeping tabs on the young midfielder’s progress, so Spurs genuinely face a big challenge to bag his signature next year.
The aforementioned report adds Tottenham have joined cross-town rivals West Ham and Palace in considering making a move for the Lens’ rising star in recent months, despite them bolstering the engine room options with the acquisitions of Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall earlier this year. The chiefs at the Hotspur Way are planning to rest Lens’ resolve for Diouf if the Frenchman decides to embark on a fresh challenge.

Rather than waiting until the summer, perhaps it would be a smart idea for Spurs to go for Diouf in the winter transfer window after it was recently revealed that midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur has been slapped with a seven-game domestic ban by the FA for off-field actions.
Big Ange should have maximum options available in every department to ensure his team is ready to mount a second-half season charge for a top-four finish.
