FC Nurnberg striker Stefanos Tzimas is on the radar of Tottenham
Tottenham Hotspur reinforced their attacking unit in the past summer transfer window, with the likes of Dominic Solanke and Wilson Odobert arriving through the door from Bournemouth and Burnley, respectively.
The Lilywhites lost Harry Kane to Bayern Munich in the summer of 2023, and they have been trying to find ways to fill the void left by our talismanic goalscorer ever since. Despite splashing big on Solanke and Odobert, Daniel Levy and Johan Lange appear to want more and are still in the market for more attacking talent.
The north Londoners’ recruitment under Ange Postecoglou have been focused on signing young, hungry and dynamic talents with room to grow. In the last few transfer windows, they have done well to sign the likes of Destiny Udogie, Micky van de Ven, Brennan Johnson, Wilson Odobert, Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall. And Spurs remain determined to enhance their pool of prodigious talents in the forthcoming windows.
According to a report from German outlet SportBILD (h/t Sport Witness), Tottenham have expressed an interest in signing FC Nurnberg striker Stefanos Tzimas, who is on loan from Greek champions PAOK.
Stefanos Tzimas joined Bundesliga 2 side FC Nurnberg on loan from PAOK in the summer transfer window. The three-cap Greece under-21 international has hit the ground running in the second tier of German football, netting five goals and assisting once in nine league games thus far.
Owing to his rich vein of form, Nurnberg are planning to activate their buy option worth €18m and sign the young striker permanently from PAOK. This is because Spurs and a few other clubs have shown their interest in signing Tzimas and, by triggering the buy option in his contract, the German side plan to sell him for a bigger profit in the future.
The aforementioned report (h/t Sport Witness) adds Nurnberg want to sell Tzimas for €20m plus to one of his suitors from the Premier League and make themselves a quick profit in the process. Other than Tottenham, Newcastle United and West Ham United have also been keen on the Thessaloniki-born talent.
Due to Spurs’ recruitment policy of targeting young talents, Daniel Levy and Co. are seemingly monitoring various players to cover and compete with Solanke. As Richarlison is injury-prone and Son Heung-min not going to be around forever, finding a player between the age of 20 and 25 who has the potential to grow into someone of a similar calibre to Solanke would be a smart move.

Tzimas has been performing well in the Bundesliga 2, and at 18, he has the potential and room to develop. Having been impressed with his early performances in Germany, Spurs must not hesitate to splash the cash and bring the young Greek to act as an understudy to Solanke from January onward.
