Tottenham star Pedro Porro has emerged as a target for Real Madrid
There has been a lot of speculation surrounding the future of Tottenham Hotspur star Pedro Porro in the last couple of months.
Having established himself as one of the best right-backs in the Premier League in the last 12 to 15 months, the Spaniard is now being linked with a move away from the Hotspur Way. Real Madrid view the Spurs right-back as one of the potential options to replace Dani Carvajal, who has been ruled out for the rest of the season due to a serious knee injury.
Pedro Porro acknowledged Real Madrid’s interest in him after being asked questions about his future during the recently concluded international break. The 25-year-old stated while he is still focused on the task at hand in Tottenham colours at this moment, anything could happen in a year.
John Wenham—the owner of the reputed Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose—has no issues whatsoever with Porro expressing his desire to play for Real Madrid. The club insider thinks the Spurs full-back “dreams” of playing for the Spanish heavyweights.
“If you asked any Spanish person, apart from Barcelona fans, if they’d like to play for Madrid, the answer would be yes,” John Wenham exclusively told Tottenham News.
“Therefore, I’m not surprised that Porro takes links to Madrid as a compliment. I’m sure that he dreams of playing for Madrid, and quite frankly, you’d want that to be an ambition of his. That shows that he is doing so well for Spurs that the best team in the world are after him.
“However, he has also implied that he is committed to Tottenham where he has a long-term contract. He doesn’t need to say those things. Therefore, I think Porro is doing everything right at the moment in terms of answering those questions.”
Being linked with Madrid apparently shows Porro has been performing consistently for Tottenham. The Don Benito-born talent has established himself as the undisputed first-choice right-back since arriving on a loan-to-buy deal from Sporting CP in 2023, and he has certainly lived up to his £39.7million price tag after a rather slow start to life at the north London club.
The Spanish international’s desire to play for Madrid is hardly surprising, given they are the biggest footballing club in the world. It is difficult for any player to reject a move to Santiago Bernabeu if the La giants come calling.

Under contract until 2028 (Transfermarkt) and Tottenham in no real hurry to sell him, it remains to be seen just how long can we keep Porro at the club. Even if he decides to move on in 2025, the Lilywhites have lined up Brighton and Hove Albion’s Tariq Lamptey as a potential replacement.
