Manchester City add Tottenham star Cristian Romero to 2025 transfer wishlist.

Tottenham Hotspur have been dealt with tricky cards going into the London Derby against Chelsea this weekend with multiple injuries that have left them light in the defensive aspects of the game; however, Argentine centre back Cristian Romero could return for Spurs later today.

Ange Postecoglou is light on options at the heart of defence after Ben Davies picked up a hamstring injury in the North Londoners 1-0 defeat against Bournemouth on Thursday night that should keep him on the sidelines for about four or five weeks.

Romero to the rescue?

Romero ready for Chelsea?

Now, going into the London derby at White Hart Lane today, former Tottenham scout Bryan King believes that Ange Postecoglou might not have much of a choice in whether Romero would feature donning the Lilywhites badge, as he insists that the World Cup winner will be the one to decide whether he lines up for Tottenham today.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, King said:

“Choices are becoming limited for Postecoglou. Therefore, if Romero is fit and he has trained, then Postecoglou has to play him against Chelsea. If the player is comfortable, and he says that he can play, then he has to play.

“Options are thin on the ground at the moment. I imagine it will be Romero who makes the decision. If he says he is okay, then he will play.”

From a Tottenham perspective, having Cristian Romero potentially return to the starting lineup against Chelsea later today could be crucial given the defensive crisis that the Lilywhites are facing. With Ben Davies now sidelined, Romero’s presence would reintegrate the much-needed stability and leadership in the backline.

That being said, it is also important to remember that Romero shouldn’t be rushed into the game as the fixtures come thick and fast in December, and it could prove fatal for Tottenham.
