Odobert set to be out of action for eight more weeks
Tottenham Hotspur are going through an incredibly frustrating period with injuries and there is not one player apart from the midfielders that has been spared of a fitness concern since the 2024/25 season got underway. As far as the attacking department goes, every single forward apart from Timo Werner has spent some time on the treatment table in the last three or four months.
Richarlison and Wilson Odobert are amongst the worst affected players. The Brazilian suffered a fresh problem in his first match back from injury against Aston Villa in November, while a hamstring injury on his right leg required Wilson Odobert to undergo surgery approximately four weeks ago. And while Spurs have not provided a timeline for his return, an update has now emerged.
According to sports scientist Dr. Rajpal Brar, the player is likely to be out for roughly eight more weeks and could make his return to the fray in February next year. He was quoted saying the following to Tottenham Hotspur News when asked about Wilson Odobert’s potential return to training and then to match action.
“Considering he had surgery in mid-November, the best case return would be around the end of February and the worst case would be another setback during rehab that has him out for significantly longer. At this stage, it may be too early to gauge whether or not he’s on track to return come the end of February. I still do not see him back in training until the start of February.“
Though muscular injuries are very common among footballers, a hamstring injury is among the more serious ones and requires a lengthy time on the sidelines. There is also a great risk of a relapse, though in Wilson Odobert’s case, the matter is significantly worse as he was required to undergo a surgery – something that is far from the norm for such problems.

His absence is a big miss for Tottenham, especially in the Carabao Cup. It is likely that he will even miss the initial phase of the FA Cup, whereas the French teenager is also a good option off the bench for Tottenham. For another two months, Postecoglou will need to make do without him though hopefully thereafter, the player comes back strong and returns to action on the front foot.
