International break? It’s the 10 game season review!

We here at To the Lane and Back absolutely despise the international break. No Tottenham on the telly for two weeks is like an England midfield without Scott Parker. with that in mind, and the season now 10 games old for the almighty Spurs, it is time for the season review so far. So, sit back, relax and enjoy the muses of of Spurs’ season review thus far.

Sandro has done no wrong, just Parker has done everything right

When Sandro signed for Spurs last summer, To the Lane and Back were unbelievabely excited about the prospect of having our very own Patrick Vieira in the ranks. Despite a slow start, it was evident that his ability and potential were a force to really be reckoned with. With some excellent performances bossing the midfield in the second half of the season, many expected the Brazilian to be a first name on the team-sheet. However, with the arrival of Scott Parker, this is no longer the case for the former Internacional midfielder.

Best of Brad keeps the Spurs marching on

To the Lane and Back was sceptical when Tottenham signed Brad Friedel back in July. Did we also mention how much we enjoy humble pie? We have also been enjoying the American’s performances in the Spurs net since he joined, none more so than his Man of the Match performance against Fulham on Sunday.

Will Dawson walk back into the starting XI?

Eight games unbeaten and the case for a top four finish looks all the more stronger for Tottenham. After a disasterous start to the season, it looks as thought the good ship Spurs has steadied under Harry Redknapp. And everyone knows a great team is based on a solid defence. With Brad Friedel in goal, the back-four looks sturdier and far less likely to concede than in the years gone by. Building from the back is pivotal to the best teams and with Younes Kaboul and Ledley King, when fit, proving the preferred partnership to Redknapp, it looks as though it will be tough for Michael Dawson to break his way back into the starting XI.

With that in mind, To the Lane and Back analyses whether Dawson will be able to walk back into the team and the competition that lies in front of him as the 27-year-old steps up his rehabilitation from an Achilles injury.

Tottenham’s top five goals of the season so far

There have been some truly memorable goals at White Hart Lane over the past few years and this season has seen the club score some absolute beauties both home and away. To the Lane and Back will now look at our choices for the top five goals that have rippled the back of the net so far this season

What to do with Bentley and Jenas

A follow up from To the Lane and Back’s piece on who is expected to leave in January. Naturally, we believed that the quartet Heurelho Gomes, Sebastien Bassong, Giovani Dos Santos and Roman Pavlyuchenko will be looking for greener pastures in the new year then a comment on the article caught my eye; what about David Bentley and Jermaine Jenas?

Find me a man who doesn’t love Benoit Assou-Ekotto and I’ve found you a liar

Some fans like Luka Modric, others prefer Ledley King. And can you blame them? But here at To the Lane and Back we have saved a special spot in our heart for Mr Benoit Assou-Ekotto. The left-back’s attitude towards the game is refreshingly brilliant and every interview he has given has been an absolute joy to read. So, without further adieu, here is the reason why we love the Cameroonian international.

#Teveztotottenham

When you see both Carlos Tevez and Tottenham in the same sentence, transfer window springs to mind. But, while it is still two months until January’s show-piece opens, Spurs have been linked with a move for the Argentine. Unfounded you say? Won’t happen we hear? Well, while football is a place for dreaming, To the Lane and Back looks at the potential prospect of Tevez moving to Spurs….?
