Football.london have reported that Vincent Janssen has been stripped of his jersey number ahead of the season.

The report claims that this is an indication of the player leaving Tottenham before the transfer window closes.

Football.london goes on to add that Spanish striker Fernando Llorente has kept his No.18 jersey for the season, meaning the former Swansea man would be Harry Kane’s back-up this season (h/t Football.london).

Janssen, who earns wages in the region of £25,000-a-week, spent last season on loan with Fenerbahce and scored four goals in 16 league appearances.

The report adds that the Turkish giants were interested in signing the Dutch striker on loan this season too but bought Islam Slimani from Leicester City instead.

Although the Premier League window has shut shop, clubs from the other European Leagues can still sign players till the end of the month.

Janssen has struggled to perform for Tottenham since his move from AZ Alkmaar. The Dutch striker only scored six goals in 36 games in his debut season.

The 24-year-old could have been a decent option to have behind Kane this season but he would definitely not receive regular starts.

A move to another club would be ideal for the Dutch striker and it remains to be seen if Janssen leaves the club on loan or on a permanent deal.
