Tottenham keeping tabs on Middlesbrough defender Dael Fry
The Evening Gazette (h/t Sky Sports) claims that Tottenham are one of the several clubs monitoring Dael Fry.
The 22-year-old centre-back has played three games for Middlesbrough this season and is capable of playing as a full-back too.
The English youngster has been a regular for Boro since last season and had notched up 34 Championship appearances for them.
The report adds that Wolverhampton Wanderers, Everton and Manchester City are also keeping an eye on the defender as he racks up more appearances in the Championship.
Tottenham already have a couple of young defenders in Juan Foyth and Davinson Sanchez, and they handed Japhet Tanganga a start in the Carabao Cup clash against Colchester too.
Spurs in need of new defenders?
Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen are two of the most experienced defenders in the Premier League. They have become one of the best pairings in the competition and have served Tottenham well for a few years.
However, both are free agents at the end of this season and are in their 30s. Relying on just Sanchez and Foyth would be a risky strategy should both the Belgian defenders leave at the end of the campaign.
Fry might not have a lot of Premier League experience, but he will improve under Mauricio Pochettino. The Argentine has improved several players during his time in England, and Fry could be the next Dele Alli or Harry Winks.
