Villa step up Hutton persuit

Reports suggest that Alan Hutton is set to join Aston Villa in the coming days.

The Scottish international has failed to hold down a regular starting berth with Croatian Vedran Corluka favoured at right back.

The return of Kyle Walker from Villa has seen the 26-year-old become surplus to requirements with manager Harry Redknapp happy to let him go having made just over 50 first team appearances since his 2008 move.

With talks reportedly progressing well, Hutton is set to become McLeish’s first signing since taking over from Birmingham City and will se the pair re-united once more
