Tottenham midfielder Steven Pienaar faces up to six weeks on the sidelines after undergoing groin surgery.
The 29-year-old pulled up with the injury during the 2-1 win over Atletic Bilbao at the weekend.
Pienaar will definitely miss the season opener against former club Everton while sitting out the league games against Manchester United and Manchester City and both Europa League legs against Hearts.
