Bond dismisses Modric departure

Tottenham assistant manager Kevin Bond is confident that want away midfielder Luka Modric will still be a Spurs player come September 1st.

Modric has been attracting interest from a number of Premier League rivals, with Chelsea his favoured destination should he leave White Hart Lane.

The Blues have seen two bids of £22m and £27m rejected by the Spurs boards and are currently contemplating a third bid of around £30m.

Chairman Daniel Levy has maintained a strong stance over the course of the summer, insisting the 25-year-old will not be sold for any price and despite manager Harry Redknapp claiming he could use the money from any potential deal to improve the team, Bond believes the Croatian will remain with Spurs.

“The chairman has made it quite clear that Luka will not be leaving the club and I don’t see that changing at all,” he said.

“He has said categorically that he will stay at the club and I think that’s what will happen.”
