Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has moved to assure fans that wantaway midfielder Luka Modric will not be leaving White Hart Lane tonight.

Modric has been linked with a move away from Spurs all summer with Chelsea the preferred destination of the diminutive playmaker.

The Blues pursuit of the Croatian is expected to continue right up until the 11pm deadline but Redknapp has ruled out a deadline day move for the 25-year-old.

“Obviously there’s been all the talk about Luka but the chairman has held firm and he’s not for sale,” Redknapp told Sky Sports News.

“So he’s not going, which is great. That won’t happen, no chance. One million percent – that will not happen.”

Redknapp is also targeting deadline day captures of Bolton defender Gary Cahill and West Ham midfielder Scott Parker.

“I’ve always been a big admirer of Gary Cahill so we’ve got to wait and see really,” he said.

“We’ve got some bits and pieces to do ourselves. So we’ll see how the day pans out.”

He added of Parker: “I’m sure we’ll get Scott sorted out.”
