10 forwards Tottenham should be looking to sign in January

With Emmanuel Adebayor rusting in the reserves it leaves just Jermain Defoe and new boy Roberto Soldad to lead the Tottenham attack. Here are 10 strikers that I believe Andre Villas-Boas should be moving for when the January transfer window opens.

1) Javier Hernandez – Manchester United

The little Mexican is far too good to be sat on the Manchester United bench. Chicarito scored 18 goals in 36 games last year in all competitions.

2) Ederson – Atletico PR

The 24-year-old Brazilian is on fire this season, scoring 13 goals in 17 starts and six substitute appearances. His eyes would light up if offered a move to the Premier League.

3) Alfred Finnbogason – Heerenveen

Similar to Edison, the Icelandic forward has been brilliant this season scoring nine goals in six games. If he can continue that then expect big offers from Europe’s elite come January.

4) Michu – Swansea

We all know what the Spaniard can do. 19 league goals last season earned him a new contract, but the lure of Champions League football would surely be too much – if Spurs have a realistic chance of offering that, of course.

5) Edin Dzeko – Manchester City

Manuel Pellegrini looks to be getting the best out of the big Bosnian of late but if offered a decent amount then may be willing to sell consider City’s wealth of options up top.

6) Marek Hamsik – Napoli

Hamsik has been making waves in Serie A for a while now, and although not a traditional frontman he still scores a lot of goals.  The Czezh attacker has scored four goals in four appearances so far this season for Rafa Benitez’s Napoli.

7) Luis Muriel – Udinese

Another talent sparkling in the Italian topflight is 22-year-old Luis Muriel. The Colombian’s two goals in four appearances has seen interest surround the forward.

8) Stefan Kiessling – Bayer Leverkusen

The Bundesliga’s top scorer last season with 25 goals has followed on from that this – The big German has scored six goals in five games and will have left AVB’s mouth watering.

9) Mustapha Yatabare – Guingamp

The 27-year-old has netted  four times in six games already this season and looks on course for plenty more. The lanky forward would fit perfectly in the Spurs set-up.

10) Nelson Oliviera – Rennes

The highly rated Portuguese forward has been explosive for Rennes this season in Ligue 1, scoring three goals in five games. The chunky striker would spark of the likes of Erik Lamela and Nacer Chadli on the wings.
