The charge for the title is on for Tottenham as they travel to a stuttering Manchester City side that lost their last game at home against Leicester City. Tottenham on the other hand won against Watford and are now placed second in the league table behind Leicester City.

A win against Manchester City would be ideal for Tottenham as they try to win their first Premier League title but the Citizens will prove to be tough to beat as they will be hoping to bounce back from the disappointing performance against the Foxes.

Team news:

Manchester City would still be without their captain Vincent Kompany and the lack of leadership at the back certainly has cost them a lot of points this season. They would also be without David Silva and Kevin de Bruyne, big misses for the team that is trying to plug in the gaps in attack and defence.

Tottenham’s defence would also be without their stalwart Jan Vertonghen but that would be the only other major player missing apart from Clinton N’Jie. Tottenham though shouldn’t have worries about Dele Alli, who returned to the squad as he set up the winning goal that gave them the three points against the Hornets.

Probable starting lineups:

Manchester City: Joe Hart, Pablo Zabaleta, Nicolas Otamendi, Martin Demichelis, Aleksandar Kolarov, Yaya Toure, Fernandinho, Fabian Delph, Fernando, Raheem Sterling, Sergio Aguero

Tottenham: Hugo Lloris, Kyle Walker, Kevin Wimmer, Toby Alderweireld, Kieran Trippier, Mousa Dembele, Eric Dier, Nacer Chadli, Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli, Harry Kane

Stats:

  • City have not lost at home against Tottenham in their last five meetings, having won them all.
  • Spurs won the reverse fixture 4-1 earlier this season.
  • There hasn’t been a draw in the last 10 Premier League games between the sides.
  • Manuel Pellegrini has won all six of his league meetings against Pochettino.

Form guide:  Last five games (Right most game being the last one played)

Manchester City: D W D W L

Tottenham: L W W W W

Prediction:

While Spurs will be flying high not only due to their form but also their position in the table, Manchester City will still have a point to prove against the team from London. Tottenham might have a slight advantage thanks to their latest results against the Citizens but history is not on their side.

Tottenham though should have a lot of confidence in their ability and the belief instilled by Mauricio Pochettino should be enough to help Spurs get a valuable point against Manchester City. City though have to be wary as anything less than 100% against this side could lead to another loss at the Etihad and would certainly knock the Manchester side out of the title race.
