The Best 5 North London Derbies At White Hart Lane Featuring Some Of The Biggest Names From Arsenal And Tottenham

The North London derby always brings exciting games. Here are a few of the best in the recent past

1)

Tottenham 4-5 Arsenal

Event: Premier League

Date: 13th November 2004

Venue: White Hart Lane

Classic North London derby from late 2004, Martin Jol’s first Premiership game. Arsenal had not lost in the last 9 premiership games against Spurs, their best ever run in North London derbies.

It has been a season of 2 halves for Tottenham unbeaten in the first 6 games, the next 6 games have produced 5 defeats, 4 on the spin

Naybet put Spurs 1-0 up before Thierry Henry draws level for Arsenal just before half time. The game explodes in the second half when Lauren scores a penalty, then Patrick Vieira puts the Gunners 1-3 up. Defoe pulls a stunning strike back to make it 2-3 before Freddie Ljungberg makes it 2-4 with the help of a young Cesc Fabregas. Ledley King heads a goal to make it 3-4 before Robert Pires scores Arsenal’s fifth goal. Freddie Kanoute makes it 4-5, but Arsenal hold on for the 3 points.

Tottenham 5-1 Arsenal

Event: Carling Cup

Date: 22nd January 2008

Venue: White Hart Lane

Spurs got off to the perfect start when Jermaine Jenas angled in a shot to put them 2-1 ahead on aggregate. Arsenal’s Nicklas Bendtner then headed into his own net before Robbie Keane’s 18-yard shot put Spurs 3-0 up.

Aaron Lennon sidefooted in for Spurs before Emmanuel Adebayor grabbed a consolation for Arsenal but Steed Malbranque’s strike completed the rout.

Tottenham 2-1 Arsenal

Event: Premier League

Date: 7th February 2015

Venue: White Hart Lane

Harry Kane continued his superb recent form with two goals as Tottenham came from behind to beat Arsenal in an entertaining North London derby. Kane pounced to finish at the back post following Mousa Dembele’s flick from a corner early in the second half.

He then rose to head home in the 86th minute to take Spurs a point above the Gunners in the Premier League table. Mesut Ozil had given Arsenal the lead with a close-range finish but they sat back after and paid the price.

Tottenham 4-4 Arsenal

Event: Premier League

Date: 29th October 2008

Venue: White Hart Lane

Aaron Lennon’s injury-time equaliser capped a stunning fightback from Harry Redknapp’s Tottenham against Arsenal. David Bentley’s brilliant early strike put Spurs ahead, but Mikael Silvestre headed Arsenal level before half-time.

William Gallas put Arsenal in front seconds after the re-start and Emmanuel Adebayor bundled home their third.

Darren Bent pulled one back before Robin van Persie added Arsenal’s fourth – but Jermaine Jenas’s 89th-minute goal and Lennon’s tap-in earned a point.

Tottenham 2-2 Arsenal

Event: Carling Cup

Date: 24th January 2007

Venue: White Hart Lane

Julio Baptista went from zero to hero for Arsenal as they held Tottenham in an absorbing Carling Cup semi-final first-leg tie at White Hart Lane. Dimitar Berbatov gave Spurs the lead heading in after a mix-up between Manuel Almunia and Kolo Toure.

They made it 2-0 when Baptista knocked the ball into his own net from Tom Huddlestone’s free-kick, but Baptista fired in from six yards to reduce the deficit, before being fed by Justin Hoyte for a simple tap-in.

Tottenham have had little success rate, however won this similar fixture last season and will be looking forward to do the same this time as well.
