As the premier comes closer to the end and with a few matches left, every point is crucial, especially for teams fighting for title, for a champions league spot or trying to avoid relegation. This weekend the top two teams play the bottom two therefore every point will make a huge difference. Second on the table, Spurs take on Aston Villa, last on the table and Leicester City, first on the table take on Newcastle United, second last on the table. Spurs have no option but to win this fixture or else give up their dreams of the cup. Aston Villa on the other hand have little hope left being nine points behind the last team outside the relegation zone and looking towards a certain championship season but will be looking to keep those hopes to play in the premier league next season alive.

Spurs manager Pochettino has made it very apparent that the Premier League is his priority this season by choosing to rest key players against the very strong Dortmund in their Europa league fixture. Both teams come into this match up with no wins in their last three matches in all competitions, however Tottenham have managed to pick up at least one point and Aston Villa have picked up none in those three fixtures. After disappointing performances by both teams in their last fixture, respectively, they are definitely low on morale. Spurs who are the second highest goal scorers will be looking to bounce back into form against a team that has conceded 55 goals this season which is the highest amount of goals conceded by a team this season.

It will be a much needed victory in terms of title chase dreams and also building team confidence for their match against Dortmund. Spurs have won the last 7 out of 8 fixtures between the two teams in all competitions. Tottenham’s away form in the premier league has been brilliant this season losing only two away matches, one that recebtly came against West Ham United. However they also lost their latest away game in all competitions against Borussia Dortmund but in their defence, seven changes were made to the regular side. In the reverse fixture last year, Spurs managed to beat Aston Villa 3-1.

Players to look out for:

Harry Kane

Players to look out for in Tottenham will definitely be their top scorer Harry Kane who was a substitute at their last game accompanied by Kyle Walker and Erik Lamela, who are also players to look out for. After their recent hammering by City, Aston Villa will be looking to improve on their performance with players like Micah Richards, Joleon Lescott and Gabriel Agbonlahor who could make a difference and make Tottenham earn their points if they get any.

Spurs looking like the favorites right now but we never know what we might get to see in the Premier League. Maybe Aston Villa can shock everyone and send Spurs title hopes crashing down or Tottenham can show us why they’re still in the title race and come up with their usual performance and impress the fans. We’ll have to just wait to see.

Possible Starting Line Ups:

Villa possible starting lineup:
Guzan; Hutton, Richards, Lescott, Clark, Cissokho; Westwood, Gueye, Veretout; Ayew, Gestede

Tottenham possible starting lineup:
Lloris; Walker, Wimmer, Alderweireld, Davies; Dembele, Mason; Alli, Eriksen, Lamela; Kane

Prediction:

1-3 win for Tottenham.
