Tottenham enjoyed a fine season, well almost, the final day hammering to Newcastle was bad enough but the loss pushed the London side below their bitter rivals Arsenal and that is something that no Tottenham fan would have enjoyed.

Barring that, Tottenham are back in the UEFA Champions League and that too in the group stages, which will be a big relief for a lot of players as they can look to at least one season of European football.

Tottenham did also have a few stars who had excellent seasons. Harry Kane led again with the goals and picked up the Golden boot award. Dele Alli was excellent in attack for the team and the defence was one of the best in the league.

However, one player who didn’t really do as well as many would have expected to this season. Nabil Bentaleb was set to make it big in the side this season but the performances of a certain Eric Dier and Mousa Dembele in the team led him to spend more time out of the team than on the pitch.

Bentaleb

The 21-year-old Algerian only managed seven appearances this season, not the best of stats to have if he is looking to make a big name for himself in the Premier League. It wasn’t just his ability that led him to be dropped; he did pick up an injury as well which curtailed his playing time for the club.

The sad fact is that Bentaleb was actually one of the players who was constantly played last season by Tottenham. The Algerian made 35 appearances in the 2014/15 season under Mauricio Pochettino but the lack of trust shown by the Argentine manager is a sure sign that Bentaleb should see his future at another club.

The 21-year-old’s growth has stagnated at the club and this has led him to fall down the pecking order. Bentaleb isn’t the worst player in the Premier League and he could do a decent job for any of the midtable clubs. In fact many players have left Tottenham and made it big at lower placed clubs and that is still a decent role to have.

The other thing Nabil could do is move to another club; Benjamin Stambouli ended up moving to PSG and has done a pretty decent job there. Bentaleb could be a star in the making but he does need to pick up his game but it will not happen at Tottenham any time soon.

The faster the Algerian moves away, the better it would be for his future. Sadly, this season could have been his last at the club, even though rumours are stating that Tottenham are happy with Bentaleb, just for his sake and growth, he needs to play regularly and that will not happen with the talent ahead of him, so the earlier he moves, the better it will be.
