Why This 25-year Old Tottenham Target Is Worth All The Hype And The Reported £24m They Are Ready To Pay

Tottenham seem set to make a move for French forward Alexandre Lacazette. The Lyon striker didn’t have that great a season for the French club but 23 goals this season for the side; he could do a decent job at Tottenham next season.

Spurs were initially linked with a move for Saido Berahino but talks seem to have stalled for that move and even the likes of Breel Embolo do seem a bit far fetched for the London side. The 25-year-old is in the peak of his form and would be a handy player for Tottenham but is he really worth it all?

Worth the money but only for a starting spot

One issue we have raised time and again regarding the signature of Lacazette would be his role in the team. If he is playing on a regular basis the £24m being reported for his signature would be a decent deal but if he is playing second fiddle to Harry Kane, that would be too much money being spent on a striker that is easily one of the best in Europe.

The 25-year-old Lyon forward plays mostly as the solitary striker, though his movement would complement that of Kane. The French star is also extremely accurate with his finishing and has great dribbling ability, something that most strikers could only dream of having. The Lyon striker is one of the hottest properties right now and Spurs signing him up would be perfect as they look to play in the Champions League next season.

The only issue in all this is the fact that either Kane or Lacazette would end up on the bench and neither would be really happy about it, unless Tottenham decide to play two strikers or push one of their strikers a bit deeper, maybe in the Dele Alli position.

Just to prove how good Lacazette is even West Ham United and Paris Saint-Germain bid for the striker and Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas had this to say according to the Daily Mail:

“However, if he comes to me in the days to come, because he has an offer he cannot refuse, it’s possible.

“Finally, if there must be departures, they will be before June 30. There will be none after, except for minor players.”

Spurs have also been linked with a move for Michy Batshuayi but out of all the players they could sign or would want to sign, Lacazette is the best one of the lot and for all the hoopla surrounding Lacazette, he is worth every single penny Spurs.
