Tottenham are rumoured to be interested in one of the rising stars from Italian football even though the player seems to be on his way to another big club. Domenico Berardi was watched recently by Tottenham’s representatives according to TransferMarketWeb ahead of a possible move in the summer.

The 22-year-old has played for the senior Italian national side and this season has scored two goals and provided four assists in the Serie A for Sassuolo. Berardi seems to be a favourite of Antonio Conte and the current Chelsea manager had given the winger his big break for the national side a few years ago.

Berardi could be available for a fee as low as £21 million and with Tottenham looking to offload Moussa Sissoko, amongst other non-performing attackers, this could be a gamble worth taking.

The Italian has a contract at Sassuolo till 2019 but the president of the club, Giorgio Squinzi claims Juventus have an agreement to sign the player up in the summer. It is being reported that the Old Lady are undecided if they want to sign Berardi and that could be something that gives Tottenham some belief that the player could be theirs.

Spurs will be playing at Wembley next season and with more games in the Champions League, like this season, they would not want to struggle due to the greater number of games. Berardi would be a great signing and even with Erik Lamela on the chopping block next season, Spurs have to act fast and bring in talent that would suit Mauricio Pochettino’s playing style.’

The fact that they are constructing a new stadium should not be forgotten as that could have an impact on their finances but this season has still been a good one for the men in white.

The London club should finish second in the Premier League but it could have been much better in the Champions League. They still have a chance of finishing the season on a high as an FA Cup final does beckon but first, the club has to navigate a tough semi-final against Chelsea at the Wembley.
