Ryan Sessegnon

Our hopes of signing one of the most highly rated youngsters in England seem to be over as Ryan Sessegnon has signed a professional contract, his first one, with Fulham.

It was widely expected that the 17-year-old left-back would join Tottenham in the summer as the Cottagers failed to make it to the Premier League. But Sessegnon, who played 30 games for the London side, decided to stick to the Championship as he continues his development.

Sessegnon does have a bright future ahead of him and the decision might work out in his favour as he hones his skill in a lower league, which is away from the Premier League glare.

Nevertheless, we missed out on a player that would have grown leaps and bounds under the guidance of Mauricio Pochettino and a number of fans tweeted their reaction to the Englishman signing a new contract with Fulham.

  1. All Spurs fans must know by now that Mr big head Levy is bad news for us. Let mr Pochetino handle our transfers

  2. He won’t pay a fair price, he has to get the player for next to nothing, it’s costing Spurs some real talent and he’s also burning a lot of bridges, soon nobody will want to deal with us.

  3. He’d be good at Spurs, but this very young player’s reasoning makes sense. He’ll play far more often for Fulham in the next season or two than he would have at Spurs in the same period. Yes, he’s missed out on what Pochettino and staff could have done with him, yet he’s going to be gaining competitive experience.

  4. he is a local lad. we developed him like you did Kane who I assume is your local hero. In our small world us keeping him is like you saying no Kane going to Man U. There is no difference. we said no to £20m from Cairney. so don’t be surprised.None of last season’s squad has left yet, despite almost every player being bid for. you have developed your team from developing your own players and Fulham doing that is the only way a small club like Fulham can move forward and it takes years to do that not a chequebook. Exciting times at Fulham and look forward to playing you in the premiership in 2018/9. PS you have a fab team and hope you win the league next season.

  5. Some of the reactions are so stupid and petty.
Credit should be given to the youngster for staying with Fulham.
Fans have no consideration for the player or their families. No understanding of what a transfer entails.
Makes me embarrassed to be a Tottenham fan at times.
Yes! I’d have liked Sessegnon at Tottenham,of course.
I also have to admit I admire and respect his decision to stay at his parent club.
He is VERY young. By the end of next season, he will still be just 17.
So you fans blaming “Levy” or saying Spurs bottled it.
    SHUT THE HELL UP!
    IDIOT’S!

  6. No, only the less cerebral ones ‘know,’ something so nonsensical that doesn’t fit any of the facts.
