In a massive turn of an event, Juventus have pulled themselves out of negotiation involving the Sampdoria forward Patrik Schick after the Czech international failed his medical, reports the IBTimes.
Only a few weeks back, the Serie A title holders posted a photo of the 21-year-old ahead of his medical for the Old Lady. However, Schick failed his medical as he was diagnosed with a heart issue. The fee for the Czech international was reported to be around £26million. While this was quoted by CalcioMercato, other news sources said that Juventus pulled themselves out of the deal as no mutual agreement between them and Sampdoria was agreed.
Now, if by any chance you don’t know, Patrik Schick was the subject of an interest from a host of European clubs last summer including the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur. And now with him failing to complete his move, this would eventually mean that Sampdoria are open for the negotiation.
Schick only joined Sampdoria last summer, but soon after his arrival, he established himself as one of the most important players for the Italian oufit. Although he only managed 14 Serie A starts, he managed to bag 11 goals and provided 3 assists. His wonderful form again saw him come into the limelight, but showed his desire of handing him a new contract which would see his release clause rising up to £42million.
“We would like to raise or remove his release clause, I often talk with his agent and I’ll go back to it soon. I want to avoid mockery. Fererro told Secolo XIX, relayed by talkSPORT
“I would like to bring his clause up to €50m (£42m) but obviously we need to review the boy’s contract.”
But with them agreeing a mere £26m fee with Juventus, there lie some high chances that Tottenham might break out a deal in a similar region, should we engage themselves in the negotiation. The Lilywhites bought Vincent Janssen only last summer, but the Netherlands international literally failed to live upto his billing. Hence, it is fair to say that Schick’s arrival migh well see Janssen leave London either on a permanent or a temporary deal.
If Tottenham really want to schick him into their ranks, they need to work on his deal real fast as a number of clubs would be interested in signing the him.
