The footballing world is still in shock regarding PSG’s move to sign Neymar from Barcelona. While people still reel from that mammoth spending spree that the French club will go through, life and football rumours must go on. After a summer where we have been linked with a number of players with none of them joining us yet, Il Secolo XIX via Calciomercato claims that we want to sign not one but two players from the Serie A.

Before we jump about and expect players from Juventus or AS Roma being linked with a move to London, the two players that could become Spurs stars are Diego Laxalt and Giovanni Simeone. Both are playing for Genoa and are considered to be great talents for the future.

Another Pair Of South Americans To Turn Things Around At Spurs

Although the pair aren’t on the same level or as popular as Ossie Ardiles or Ricky Villa, Laxalt and Simeone could be a couple of future stars under the right manager.

Laxalt is a winger and even though he doesn’t have the greatest goals-to-games ratio, the 24-year-old has become a mainstay for the Genoa side and is known for his pace and technique. The Uruguayan was even linked with a move to Chelsea last winter but that didn’t take place.

Giovanni Simeone is the son of Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone and plays mostly as a striker. The 22-year-old scored 11 Serie A goals for Genoa in his first full season and that isn’t the worst stat to have when playing in the Italian league.

The youngster can play either as a lone striker or as a secondary striker and will provide us with a lot of options ahead of the coming season. Simeone is also known for his work rate and pairing him with Harry Kane could lead to us having one of the most devastating and hardworking forward pairings in the Premier League.

Of course, this is still all up in the air as the report claims that we have asked for more information on the duo and the pair would be available for a combined fee of €35-40million.

We need to kick on and start signing players and even if we sign these two starlets, they would provide decent cover for our side which has an extremely strong starting XI.

Sounds good although we don’t really need addition to the strike force.

I must admit I find it baffling why we have signed no-one and not got Alderweireld tied down.I have supported Spurs for 59 years and again I am getting more and more frustrated by the fact that we have the best squad I’ve known in years and Levy and Enic are wilfully allowing it to stagnate.I now wonder about Walkers departure to Man. City – is it because of the stated reasons or is it because of the owners being interested in profit before my beloved Spurs? I’d love to hear other views on this – but I get the feeling I’m not alone!.

The only thing that I would disagree with you is that we have a great starting 11 not a great squad. But you can tell from Brian Fisher above that there is a belief that we are good enough to compete in 2 domestic cups.Europe and the premier league. As usual we shall show total disrespect to the League Cup and hope for a good lucky run in the FA cup.My concern is playing in Europe on a Wednesday and fielding strong teams on the league games before and after. Our strike force is not good enough.I suspect that Toby is waiting to see how we do this season before he commits, and I cannot blame him.

Marcelo Bielsa provides update on Jack Clarke after Mauricio Pochettino sacking

Marcelo Bielsa has claimed that Mauricio Pochettino’s sacking has no bearing on Jack Clarke’s future.

The English winger signed for Tottenham in the summer and was loaned back to the Elland Road club.

Clarke made a name for himself under Bielsa in the previous campaign but has struggled for regular game time this season.

The winger has a couple of Carabao Cup games under his belt but hasn’t featured in the Championship yet.

Tottenham shook things up in midweek by sacking Mauricio Pochettino and replacing him with Jose Mourinho.

Bielsa was asked if Clarke’s situation at Leeds would change given the current events.

However, the Argentine claimed he wasn’t in contact with Poch and is trying to develop the winger himself (h/t Leeds Live):

“I never spoke with Pochettino about Jack Clarke.

“I didn’t talk with anyone at Tottenham about him. About his job it’s the same situation.

“Every day I try to do the best for Clarke. After, Tottenham and Clarke will value if we are doing enough with him.”

Clarke needs games

It would be great if Clarke is recalled by Spurs in the winter window.

The 18-year-old has to play regular games, and a lack of minutes is hampering his development.

It will be interesting to see if Mourinho takes a call on the Englishman’s future in January. Spurs need to freshen up the team and the winter window allows us to make some moves.

Jose Mourinho interested in moving for Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Jose Mourinho is interested in landing former Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, according to the Telegraph.

The Swede is available on a free transfer in January after his spell with the LA Galaxy ended.

Mourinho has worked with Zlatan in the past during their times at Inter Milan and United. The 38-year-old was signed by the new Tottenham manager in 2016 at Manchester and scored 26 goals for them.

The Telegraph adds that such a move could suit Zlatan, given that we didn’t replace Fernando Llorente in the summer.

We don’t have a back-up for Harry Kane, however, there is interest from several Italian clubs for the Swede too (h/t Telegraph).

Zlatan only a short-term option

Tottenham see Ibrahimovic as a short-term solution and may not offer him the 18-month contract he desires (h/t Telegraph).

There are also concerns regarding his wages and Tottenham don’t want to damage their pay structure at the moment (h/t Telegraph).

However, Ibra could be tempted to join the club as he could help us land a trophy with Mourinho by his side (h/t Telegraph).

We didn’t win anything under Mauricio Pochettino and it will be interesting to see if Mourinho can turn things around for us quickly.

Spurs could do with the talented Swede coming in, however, he is a tough character to deal with. Mourinho can work with that but Ibra would have to be on the bench for most games as Kane is our first-choice forward.

The Swede has a ton of experience of playing for top clubs and has represented Ajax, AC Milan, Juventus and Barcelona during his illustrious career.

Jose Mourinho wants to sign Nemanja Matic, Ruben Dias and Bruno Fernandes

Jose Mourinho has shared his three main transfer targets to Daniel Levy, according to the Independent (h/t Express).

The report claims that Mourinho is hopeful of strengthening Tottenham in the winter window.

The three players that the new boss wants are Nemanja Matic, Ruben Dias and Bruno Fernandes (h/t Express).

Mourinho knows Matic from their time at Chelsea and Manchester United. The Serbian midfielder is set to leave the Red Devils (h/t Express) and it will be interesting to see if the manager can nab him from his ex-club.

Portuguese stars to save Tottenham’s season?

Tottenham have struggled this season for consistency. We lie 14th in the Premier League and need a string of wins to close the gap on the top four.

Fernandes has been linked with a move to the Premier League too (h/t Express) and has been in fine form this season.

The 25-year-old has eight goals this season and could provide more attacking quality to the midfield.

The report claims that Fernandes could replace Christian Eriksen, who is a free agent at the end of the season.

Dias is an interesting name, given that he is one of the brightest defenders in Portugal. The 22-year-old has forced his way into the national team and could be a long-term replacement for Jan Vertonghen or Toby Alderweireld (h/t Express).

Tottenham didn’t spend a lot during the winter windows under former manager Mauricio Pochettino.

It will be interesting to see if that changes in January as we start a new era with Mourinho at the helm.

Jose Mourinho plots Gareth Bale return as new Tottenham manager

Jose Mourinho is planning an incredible move to re-sign Gareth Bale from Real Madrid.

The new Tottenham boss has a lot of work to do after a tough start to the season. Mauricio Pochettino was replaced by the former Real Madrid and Inter Milan manager, and there could be some big moves on the horizon.

Gareth Bale

AS (h/t Sun) claims that Mourinho is plotting a move to bring Bale back to Tottenham. The Welsh winger joined Real from Spurs in 2013, however, he hasn’t had the best of relationships with current manager Zinedine Zidane (h/t Telegraph).

The 30-year-old seemed set to move to the Chinese Super League in the summer but Real blocked that move (h/t Sun).

Bale’s agent, Jonathan Barnett, has also claimed that a winter move from the Spanish capital would not take place (h/t Sun).

Euro 2020 celebrations could see Bale move

The Welshman helped his nation seal a place in Euro 2020 and his celebrations didn’t go down well.

Bale and his teammates held a Welsh flag which said “Wales. Golf. Madrid. In that order”.

That could open the door for Mourinho to swoop in but Manchester United are also keen on the 30-year-old (h/t Sun).

Bale could still do a job for a top club, but he isn’t a long-term solution given his age.

It is going to be an interesting couple of months till the winter window for Mourinho. The Portuguese will have some time to judge the current crop of players and then make a decision on their futures.
