Great News As Mauricio Pochettino Admits That Tottenham Are Working To Secure ‘a few signings’

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has stated that the club is working hard to finalise a few signings before the end of the transfer window. In a rather surprising turn of events, we remain the only Premier League side not to have purchased a single player in the off-season and have let go of Kyle Walker to Manchester City.

Josh Onomah also left our side to join Aston Villa on loan and it has left us with a thin squad ahead of another season where we would be taking part in the Champions League too. We have been a little cautious in our approach in the summer and Daniel Levy even recently claimed that spending a crazy amount is not the way to go. Pochettino has said that we want to sign players up.

As quoted by the Independent, the Argentine was speaking after the 2-0 win over Juventus.

“We are working, trying to add some players to the squad. Our idea was, the same as before, to try to provide the team with more strength and try to sign a few players before the end of the transfer window.”

Injuries Piling Up For Spurs

While the likes of Erik Lamela and Son Heung-min work hard to return to first-team training, there were concerns about Kieran Trippier’s injury when we played against Italian champions Juventus. The defender is our first-choice right-back since we sold Walker to City and if the player is injured for longer than expected, Pochettino is not going to alter his plans in the summer window.

We would require cover for almost every position as even Moussa Sissoko is expected to leave the side in the current transfer window. There have been a number of names who have been rumoured to join us but nothing has been completed still.

What is a worry for most of us is the fact that the Premier League is to start from next week and we still have not freshened our squad with any new players. We have seen, time and again, that if a team does not bring in talent in the summer transfer window there is a fear of the side stagnating, or even regressing, which would not be ideal for us.

The need to stay in the top four is of vital importance and with the new stadium cost also hitting us big time, we cannot afford to lose ground on the top sides in the Premier League. Three weeks still remain before the transfer window closes and if we don’t get any new signings in, it will be a major blunder by the management.
