‘Lord Kane of Tottenham. I salute you’ – Spurs Fans Go Crazy On Twitter After 3-1 Victory Over Borussia Dortmund

Could the hoodoo regarding Wembley finally be over for Tottenham? If the scoreline against Borussia Dortmund is to be believed then we might have a case for it as Spurs opened their Champions League campaign with a hard fought 3-1 win over the German side.

The game featured two of the most attack-minded sides from their respective leagues and even though the Germans missed a number of their star players through injury, they did put up a great show.

The scoring started with Son Heung-Min, who found the back of the net after just four minutes. But the lead did not last long as Andriy Yarmolenko equalized for the away side, with a sublime hit.

Harry Kane, after breaking his August jinx, scored via an angled finish after a run down the left in the 15th minute.

There was controversy as Dortmund rightly felt aggrieved when a perfectly valid Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang goal was ruled out for offisde. Nevertheless, Kane helped us wrap up the points with a goal in the 60th minute before he was taken off for Fernando Llorente, our surprise signing on the final day of the transfer window.

There was a sour note to end the game as Jan Vertonghen got a second yellow right at the death. But the win was the perfect start to a tough group which features Real Madrid too.

This was also just our second win at Wembley since last season and the win keeps us on pace with Real Madrid who started their Champions League journey with a 3-0 win over APOEL Nicosia.

Twitter was once again full of praise for Kane and for some of the other players too and here are some of the best reactions to the game!
