Tottenham Target’s Release Clause Set At £44million – Spurs Could End Their Interest

published :

Tottenham Hotspur target Suso has agreed to new terms with his current club AC Milan, that contains a £44million release clause, as per reports from Italian outlet Il Giornale (h/t talkSPORT). The former Liverpool star continues to be linked with the North London side and it seems like the best chance of signing the player is gone.

There were reports earlier in the summer that Mauricio Pochettino could be plotting a deal for Suso. The former Liverpool attacker was continuously linked with an exit from San Siro. It now looks like Suso has committed his future to the club.

However, that’s not the end of the story as Milan have inserted a release clause in his contract. Protracted negotiations in the summer with Spurs, could once again make their way to the drawing board!

The 23-year-old has had a great start to this season having scored 3 goals and 2 assists in 7 appearances this season. Last year saw Suso score 7 goals and 9 assists.

The attacking midfielder has Premier League experience from the past, having played for Liverpool – albeit disastrously.

Tottenham were chasing his signature in a bid to strengthen their options up front. They were reported to have approached Milan with an offer of £19million earlier this summer. Having been rebuffed in their attempts, it remains to be seen if Tottenham come back with bids matching his release clause.

So, what will happen to the Lilywhites’ interest? It looks like Spurs will abandon their pursuit of the player. Having missed out on signing him for a fee less than half of his current release clause, it doesn’t look like Spurs have the intent of making another move.

However, if Suso continues to have a great season at the San Siro, Tottenham could consider making a move. There are a lot of ifs in this theory but if Suso is to continue receiving interest from top clubs around Europe, then he has to play well for Milan and keep hogging all the limelight.
